Hi Chuck, Fred,
Hadn't spotted the forks being that low in the travel.
Bike is running new ( standard rate )progressive springs, with 10mm longer spacer plus an adjustable preload fork cap that has added another 40mm or so of preload. Fork oil is also heavier and higher.
This set up feels good but I didnt have any chicken strips left with the tyre melted to with 3mm of the edge so theres probably not a lot left with my current set of balls.

Rather than add any more preload I think I need to find stiffer springs or even better a set of forks with superior damping when $ permit. Probably a set of XJ900 forks.
These have a reasonable antidive set up and are stiffer/bigger diameter. The 900 forks would also let me easliy run a twin piston caliper which has to be good.
Ah $$$$$.....

The biggest opportunity to go faster still lies with improving my skills- mainly set up for corners and fitness.

Cheers
