Subject: Camshaft Positioning

Hey guys so I am not far off of sealing up my crankcase on me engine rebuild but am currently stumped in regards to the proper camshaft positioning. According to the manual, cylinder #1 needs to be TDC. This is not an issue. The issue is knowing where the camshaft lobes should be located when piston #1 is TDC. The owners manual says to line up the arrows on the camshaft caps with the dots located on the camshaft. I have arrows on my camshaft caps, but for the life of me can not find what is described as a "dot" on either of my camshafts. The only thing that resembles remotely a dot, is what I believe to be the oil hole passages on the camshafts. If anyone can grant me more clarification on what to look for pertaining to these "dots" that would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
